1. skating at bryant park. what a great deal! $10 gets you skates if you don’t already own a pair, and admission is free…but i’m no good at it. period. there’s video proof too and i’ll post it when i figure out how.
2. las vegas and grand canyon. my aunt, uncle, and cousin from australia came to visit the u.s. and everyone on my dad’s side of the family decided to meet up in vegas. it was the first time my dad’s siblings and their families were all together at the same time. a small group of us visited the grand canyon for the day. it was spectacular…as was judi and dino’s choreographed dances at body english.

south rim – so cold!

texting at the canyon

the lina’s after buffet lunch at the wynn – best buffet i’ve ever had in vegas.

vip’s at hard rock’s body english
3. more visitors: mark and april! we went out for drinks at grand banks in downtown jersey city. was so great to see fellow texans again.
4. restaurant week: was able to try out aspen and nino’s tuscany with new friends. 3-course prix-fixe dining for $35 a head. there are photos, but i gave up facebook and myspace for lent so i don’t have access to them right now.
5. started my first job in nyc. ok, so this is how i get to work:
walk a block to the corner. wait for ‘immi’ bus (+\- 5 min). they kinda look like this:

‘immi’ bus from the corner to journal square (30 min).
say ‘NEXT STOP’ to let them know you want off.

path train to 14th street (20 min). this pic was taken on a saturday afternoon. usually i’m asleep with my mouth open sitting next to someone reading the paper. oh, and people really pack themselves in. don’t you dare make eye contact with anyone. just look down at your feet or read the emergency signal instructions over and over.
then i walk 3 avenues over, ring a doorbell next to a set of double doors to signal to the elevator man that i’m wanting to go up. when he opens the door, i step into what looks like an office (complete with desk, chair, wall paintings and potted plants), which is in fact the freight elevator (15 min).
it takes me roughly an hour to get to work which isn’t so bad. i remember complaining about my 30 min. car ride from my apartment in north austin to west 6th street. things are definitely changing.
6. my cousin got married! congrats kuya larry and ces! can’t wait til the wedding (oct. 4, 2008).
grand canyon pics look fun… the commute does not! i’d be having a blast with all the new restaurants. i love that you gave up myspace/facebook for lent! easter is early this year… really early… march 23rd.
